Gumbo & Jazz is owned and operated by Desi Anderson. Desi and her husband Wessell “Warmdaddy” Anderson are natives of Louisiana.   They moved to East Lansing after Wessell had spent 20 years touring as a saxophonist with the well known jazz musician Wynton Marsalis.

Longing for the nuances of life in Louisiana, Desi opened “Gumbo & Jazz” in East Lansing which serves only authentic southern Louisiana cuisine. With her “seasoned but not too spicy” touch Desi offers such authentic Louisiana cuisine as gumbo, shrimp creole, andouille sausage, red beans with and without tasso (smoked ham), jambalaya, crawfish, crayfish, etouffee and much more.



A complete catering menu is also available! Special music and food programming also available for your weddings or other special events with live jazz from world famous grammy award winning artists!
